Your backyard can be one of the most overlooked spaces, but it’s also the one with the most potential. Done right, your backyard can be turned into a beautiful oasis for you to enjoy for years to come.

• Water feature

Water features are one of the most relaxing things you can have in your garden. Whether you choose a waterfall, pond or a small bubbling rock, the soothing sound of running water will calm you.

• Seating area

It’s important to have a place in your garden where you can sit back, relax and look out over your space. Try putting down some stone aggregate with a couple of comfortable chairs in the bottom corner of your garden, set back from your house. For added privacy, plant some tall grasses, shrubs and flowers around it. You want this space to feel cozy and secluded.

• Aromatic plants

Being able to enjoy the beautiful perfumes is one of the best parts about having a garden. There are lots of perennials and annuals that have soothing scents. Or, if you’re not a flower person, try planting a garden of herbs and lavender. Lavender is one of the most soothing scents, so you’ll be able to de-stress after a long day.

• Bird feeders

Attract local birds to your garden with bird feeders, which come in all different shapes, colours and styles. You can also get bird feeders designed to attract specific birds!

• Pollinators

Bees are so important to your garden and to the ecosystem, so make sure you’re providing them with the plants they need. You can also get pollinators that attract hummingbirds, which are a delightful addition to your garden oasis.

• Garden art

Aside from beautiful bird feeders, you can add a bit of artistic flare to your garden with garden art. These can be sculptures, wind chimes, fence decorations or anything else you can think of!
